ft.
Manufacturing facility near the Huntsville airport that will specialize in the production and assembly of inert solid rocket motor components.
We are also continuing to grow at our Huntsville center of excellence for Missile Solutions Program Management and Engineering, as well as our Advanced Manufacturing Facility in north Huntsville, where we produce advanced propulsion products.
We are seeking a Lead, Project Engineer (Solid Rocket Chief Engineer) to join our Huntsville, AL, or Camden, AR, or Culpeper, VA site.
Reporting directly to Engineering Director, this position provides technical leadership for all aspects of relevant programs.
The program CE plays a key role in ensuring 100% Mission Success through ensuring rigorous application of technical decision making and leveraging engineering discipline capability.
Responsibilities include coordination of engineering organization resource deployment, determination of SDACS engineering organization structure to meet program goals in an R&D environment, working with the program office to ensure accurate resource demands, integration of resources into the program, monitoring status of Technical Performance Measures, creation and execution of a Design and Development Plan, and execution of the Engineering Review Board processes.
The Chief Engineer represents Engineering within the program management team, leads the Engineering Systems Integration Team, chairs the Engineering Review Board, and serves as the technical interface with external customers.
This position ensures appropriate application of Engineering standard work and performance and quality of product requirements for all phases of the program from design analysis & definition, requirements verification, assembly and to post-delivery product support efforts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 75%- Lead engineering teams, as well as perform and integrate technical work in the team environment ensuring the development of SDACS meets program goals.
Lead, direct, perform, and coordinate all engineering work; manage technical progress and schedule and cost status and execute the Design Development Plan.
Assure that delivered products meet Aerojet Rocketdyne and contractual requirements for engineering design.
25%- Monitor technical progress and interface with Program Management, Aerojet Rocketdyne customers and other Aerojet Rocketdyne functional organizations to understand and develop resolution to program technical issues.
REQUIREMENTSA Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and (nine) (9) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience in solid rocket motor and/or Divert and Attitude Control Systems development preferred.
Knowledge of advanced Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) materials, propellant development, control algorithm development, and DACS system architecture design desired.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software required.
